Call to Action for U.S. International Assistance

Over the next two weeks when Members of Congress are back home, business, humanitarian and faith leaders, veterans, farmers, implementers, and local elected and community leaders from around the country are voicing their support for U.S. international assistance. Join us in asking Congress to protect international programs that save lives and make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.

Why Now

  • U.S. international assistance programs around the world have been shut down and rivals, such as China, Iran, North Korea and Russia, are stepping in to fill the gaps. Lives have already been lost, and economic and national security interests have been undermined due to the abrupt shutdown of critical international assistance programs.
  • Congress has an important role to play in ensuring that U.S. international assistance continues in a way that advances American interests and makes our country safer, stronger and more prosperous.
  • Now is the time to urge Members of Congress to support and reform U.S. international assistance.

Take Action

As the impacts of the terminations spread and U.S. interests are placed at risk, it is urgent that you and your networks take action to protect international assistance and safeguard America's future.

Urge Your Lawmakers To:

  • Weigh in with Congressional leadership and the Administration in support of strong, effective, and sufficiently resourced diplomacy and international assistance programs that advance America's interests and values.
  • Provide robust oversight of U.S. international assistance and ensure Congress has a meaningful role in any proposals to reform, reorganize, or cut Congressionally-appropriated funding for U.S. foreign assistance programs.
  • Ensure the future of U.S. international assistance is results driven, strategically leveraged, and catalytic in paying dividends for the American people.

#SaferStronger Weeks of Action

With growing global threats to American interests and values, this is a critical moment for Americans to speak out on the imperative for strong U.S. leadership on the global stage.

  • When U.S. international affairs resources are spent wisely, effectively, and strategically, the benefits to Americans are clear – we are better equipped to outcompete rivals like China, prevent threats from reaching our shores, and strengthen our own economy.

The abrupt cutoff of these critical programs undermines U.S. interests, and our adversaries are stepping into the vacuum.

  • This not only puts the lives of tens of millions of people around the world at risk, but it also poses a clear and present danger to American lives and livelihoods and to U.S. strategic interests around the world.

Members of Congress will be making critical decisions on funding, reform, and policy when they return from recess, so now is the time for your voice to be heard.

Now is the time to contact your Member of Congress to ask them to protect, strengthen, and modernize U.S. international assistance programs. Strong U.S. engagement around the world will help make America win!
